The UK operation employs more than 50 people in the design, development and support of our systems.

Management Team

Peter Hawkins - Chairman

Peter has been associated with the Industry for more than 25 years and has managed weighing businesses in several countries during this time. He was also closely involved, at a European level, with the legislative aspects of the Industry for many years. In 1995 he managed the acquisition of the Stevens Group for Dataprocess and has remained involved in the business ever since. Peter has travelled extensively and has a worldwide knowledge of the industry, its customers and suppliers.

Peter lives in Kent with his three (adult) children and his interests outside the business include playing and watching many sports, economics, fine wines and his family.

Toby Hawkins – UK Sales Manager

Toby was appointed UK Sales Manager in July 2008, having worked in the sales department for 3 years. During this time he has been responsible for developing the South East of England into a successful sales area. However he is best known for the energy, structure and discipline he has brought to our National Major Accounts (Premier Foods, ABF, Bakkavor & Kerry Foods). As well as the UK sales, Toby has a responsibility for supporting SG Systems in the USA and the development of new markets in New Zealand and Australia. Prior to joining Stevens, Toby spent time travelling the world and speaks fluent Spanish and French.

When not driving all over the UK, Toby is an avid reader and a keen sportsman and follower of rugby and cricket. Food and Drink also play a large part in his life!!

Darren Fisher - UK Service Manager

Following a 5 year successful career in the sales department as National Market Manager for both the Carrier & Cash Handling Sector, Darren was appointed UK Service Manager in July 2008. Darren started life working for Linpac Packaging and he is known for his exemplary attention to detail. Darren’s role involved managing & developing the Service Technicians & Administrators, monitoring and improving service performance and handling the day to day contract related queries.

Darren is a well seasoned golfer and when not on the course he is a family man and spends time attending to the needs of his wife and 3 teenage children!

Peter Charlton – Group Technical Manager

Peter’s career with Stevens has spanned over 10 years. During this time he has become an expert in the Vantage Traceability System and its applications. He leads the Project Managers and has a strong input into the direction of the software department and is known for seeing all options and being a well considered member of the team. Peter represents the Technical team during Management Meeting and approves project and development timescale.

Peter is a family man too and enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He is a keen fell walker and enjoys appreciating the Wainwright routes in the Lake District.

Mike Howe - Operations Manager

Mike was appointed Operations Manager in August 1999 and has played a key role in the modernisation of the manufacturing systems within the company. Many of these disciplines came from his wealth of experience in manufacturing with other blue-chip companies like BNFL and Dyson. Mike is known for his great attention to quality and his dedication to delivering products which exceed our customer’s expectations. Mike lives in Lytham St Anne's with his two daughters where the weather is marginally nicer than in Blackburn!

Mike enjoys European travelling and Art Deco buildings, he is known for his keen interests in wine.


In addition, we employ an 8 strong sales team, 18 Technical Engineers, 4 Product Managers, 7 Software Designers and Support Engineers as well as dedicated staff in accounts, production, contract admin, service call handling and purchasing.
